# How to upgrade/migrate the application?

### Description

Migrating <code class="expression">space.vars.SITENAME</code> to new version will ensure that the application includes new features and improved functionality.

### Solution

Make sure that the [Migration Pre-requisites](/v7.221/manage/upgrade-index/upgrade-application.md#migration-pre-requiste-for-windows-and-linux) steps are followed before migrating to new version. Once the pre-requisites are met, follow one of the below section

{% if "OpsHub Integration Manager" === space.vars.SITENAME %}
Make sure that the [Pre-Upgrade Checklist](/v7.221/manage/upgrade-index/upgrade-application.md#pre-upgrade-checklist) steps are followed before migrating to new version. Once the pre-requisites are met, follow one of the below sections.
{% endif %}

* [Steps to migrate on Windows](/v7.221/manage/upgrade-index/upgrade-application.md#migration-steps-for-windows)
* [Steps to migrate on Linux](/v7.221/manage/upgrade-index/upgrade-application.md#migration-steps-for-linux)

Once migration is completed successfully, follow these [Post Migration Steps](/v7.221/manage/upgrade-index/upgrade-application.md#post-migration-steps-for-windows-and-linux).

In case the migration fails, you can check for the cause of failure in `Migration.log` file located under `logs` folder at <code class="expression">space.vars.SITENAME</code> `<installation_path>`.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.opshub.com/v7.221/help-center-index/faqs/installer-faqs/how-to-upgrade-oim.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
